Patrick O'Brien, a native of Fredericton N.B., is a graduate of St. Thomas University [B.A.80] and the University of Ottawa [M.C.A. 83]. He is the President of Parole Consultations [PC 2010], a registered criminal justice consulting company focused on assisting clients in preparation for appearances before the Parole Board of Canada.

His 30 year career spans virtually all levels of correctional services. He has worked in both youth and adult corrections, in line, supervisory and management positions, be they community or institutionally based. Of greatest relevance is his work with administrative tribunals. Those experiences have taken him from his home province of New Brunswick, to Ontario, Alberta, PEI and Nova Scotia. From delivery of probation services in rural PEI to the management of a multi-level adult facility, Patrick O'Brien brings a diverse and national perspective to your file.

It was that experiential base that invited him to spend several years developing and delivering various academic criminal justice oriented programs at the Nova Scotia Community College, UPEI, Acadia and Saint Mary's universities. Committed to student excellence and the value of experiential learning he was acknowledged for excellence in teaching in 1997.

Of greatest relevance to potential clients is the experience gained through ten years with the Parole Board of Canada. Patrick O'Brien was appointed as a full time member, the youngest in the country at the time, to the Atlantic Region Board in 1998 and subsequently renewed for five additional years in 2003. Over the last two years of his appointment he served as A/ Vice Chair of the Board. Throughout his terms he was directly involved in the training of Board Members, communicating the work of the Board to the public as well as the development and delivery of culturally sensitive hearings for First Nations and African Canadian communities.

He has adjudicated hundreds of federal and provincial cases across the country and is uniquely positioned to assist clients, their families and legal counsel with the important preparations required for appearances before the Parole Board of Canada.

Be that independent file reviews, coaching, submissions to the Parole Board, serving as an assistant or submitting appeals, do not discount the importance of proper preparation and representation.

Patrick O'Brien resides in Moncton, N.B. with his wife and two daughters. He is also involved in the training & development field, is an avid marathoner and part time journalist.
